This entry from 2011 showed the Chilean miners who were rescued being transported via the specially constructed elevator up to the surface. The special touch is the mistress of one of the miners waiting on the surface with a little sign. Usually the ideas for the Peeps contest are news events or special events that are special to Denver. But this one has been my favorite. I have a plan and will see if my idea is good enough to enter. Deadline is the first week of March. If you go online to Denver Post Peeps contest, using the 2011 entries, enter Chilean miners, but there are others that are just as creative. Going on their web-site will give you a larger image of the miners and other entries. To view a close-up of this entry, click on the arrow "next photo," this takes you to the Denver Post web-site and the 2011 entries, then click on box #1 and you will see the details of this entry.
Do you remember making dioramas for school projects?

Too much fun! I didn't know The Post did this.
ReplyDeleteGo for it. Can you tell me your idea? You know I can't steal it.
It has to do with the Yves St. Laurent exhibit that was in the Denver Art Museum. We also had the Van Gogh exhibit, but I think there will be quite a few entries with that theme. My problem is how do I make those Peeps look good in French fashion?
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your idea! How cute of a contest!! I'm sure lots of creativity is put into each of the designs!!
ReplyDeleteMy mom always liked to enter contests too; she said "someone has to win them, maybe it will be me this time"
betty
I only enter contests where you have a chance, essay, writing, etc. and I just won a free Pilates class at our local physical therapy center which was a drawing but with not too many entries, it's a kind of self-entertainment.

Thanks for the encouragement, CQ and IS. I think I will go ahead with the idea.
DeleteI remember dioramas well, and expect I'm getting close to when my kids will have to start making them. We've made spring ones, where we go for a walk and find the signs of spring. I should have my kids make peep dioramas!
ReplyDeleteShannon at The Warrior Muse
Shannon: The Denver Post also includes entries from kids. I am patiently waiting for the Peeps to hit the stores so I can figure out how to use them.
ReplyDeleteA Peeps contest has hatched in Portland this year.
ReplyDeleteYesterday I was at the farm store to get something for my horse. This time of year they sell chicks out of light-warmed stock tanks. They are so adorable. Imagine a tableaux with live Peeps dressed as.....
