Horror Story for Trifecta Writing Challenge

True Horror Story

They've taken our baby away,
They say we broke her legs,
 We didn't, we didn't.

No way out.  Heartbreak, disgrace
.
Later:  father murders wife, then himself.

Baby is found to have genetic disorder.

Please excuse this digression from the A-Z Challenge.  I read this true story in the Denver Post today and just had to share the horror and tragedy of this.

  1. I am commenting on my own entry. Could not figure out how not to use "kill." But this story moved me deeply, especially since it is true.

    1. Oh, how terribly sad. I haven't read the news today. I'm wondering if this is the update to the story I'd heard about two bodies found, possible murder/suicide. Hello back from down in Colorado Springs!

    2. The story is in the Denver Post today. I don't think the parents were from the Springs. A doctor did order emergency genetic testing but it was not done until three months later. The father had already shot himself. Sorry to be so morbid, but this story touched my heart. Tomorrow I will be back in the a-z mode.

  4. Oh, and now that baby not only has a genetic disorder, he's an orphan! That's a lot of heartbreak to squeeze into 33 words.

  5. Actually, the baby only lived a few months after her parent's deaths. But, her grandparents took care of her those last few months after having to go to court to do this. An understanding judge ordered Alyssa to be given to them, not the social services department who still insisted that SS have custody. The grandparents said that, Alyssa was happy and was their greatest joy.
